Birchfield School prides itself on delivering the very best rounded education and we recognise that some of your children’s most valuable learning takes place outside the classroom, in the real world. Our vast calendar of School trips, residentials and workshops aims to provide pupils in every year with a context to their academic subjects through experiential learning.

Here are just a few examples of the varied experiences we offer our pupils:
Marching through Roman Chester in a military cohort and in full costume allows our Year 5 children to understand better the life of a Roman soldier, whilst a factory visit to Muller allows our Year 8 pupils to see chemistry and biology at work in food production.
Year 7 pupils study the application of and inspiration for wonderful art and sculpture on their residential trip to St. Ives in Cornwall, whilst Reception pupils visit the Fire Station and learn how the Fire Service protect us and important life lessons in personal safety.
A trip to France allows children from Year 5 upwards to experience language in action under the close supervision of their teachers, and to hone their conversational skills.
Our school trips programme is extensive and organic, ever-changing to meet the needs of our pupils and provide the most compelling and memorable learning experiences.
