Senior School

A Broad and Balanced Curriculum with State of the Art Facilities

Senior School runs from Year 7 to Year 11, culminating in GCSE examinations. Whether pupils have moved up from the Birchfield Prep School, or have joined from other schools, all our pupils are helped and supported during this crucial transition period into Senior School. Year 7 and 8 lay the foundations for GCSEs, giving our pupils the opportunity to explore different subjects, and learn what really interests them.
As ever at Birchfield School, we don’t just focus on the academia, but make sure our pupils enjoy a well-rounded curriculum with time for sport, music, and art. We also promote our pupils to be good social citizens, with emphasis placed on supporting charities. Throughout Senior School we also offer ample opportunity for our pupils to enjoy trips, external activities, enrichment and leadership opportunities.
Our comprehensive GCSE programme begins in Year 9. This gives us three years to prepare and educate our pupils for their exams. We offer guidance and advice for choosing their options, and support our pupils throughout this time. This longer time period gives our pupils a depth of knowledge and a deeper insight into their subjects, which is reflected in their examination results.
Our experienced team support and advise pupils and their families on the next steps after GCSE, and we have long-standing established relationships with various 6th Forms. Our sister school St Dominic’s Grammar School in Brewood offers places to our pupils for entry into their excellent 6th Form.
Whatever the next step for your child, we are confident that they will leave Birchfield School with a bedrock of values and outlooks that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.
