Birchfield is a co-educational preparatory school for children aged four to thirteen with a special atmosphere. Our website offers an introduction to Birchfield but is no substitute for a visit to the School. A website cannot do justice to the beauty of our setting and the positive, animated atmosphere of the school. We are sure that if you come to visit, you will immediately sense that Birchfield is a happy place where children learn with enthusiasm in a safe, friendly and caring environment.
We are confident that the education we provide will give your child the best possible start in developing the key skills required for the world of work in the 21st century. Our curriculum is designed to develop your child’s ability to think for him or herself, to experience the value of hard work and commitment, to have high aspirations and to be flexible and able to adapt to fast-changing situations. Our approach to learning is based on a combination of the best of traditional and modern methods.
The happiness of the children at Birchfield is of paramount importance to me and all the staff. We know that a happy child that feels safe, comfortable and well cared for is more likely to meet the challenges we set as a matter of course for all pupils. Your son or daughter will be inspired by the widest possible range of activities and facilities, all provided within the beautiful setting of an impressive Edwardian Arts and Crafts house set in twenty acres of Shropshire countryside.
Birchfield's success as a school is founded on the quality of the relationships within its community. We attach great importance to respect between people. As a result, boys and girls can confidently develop comfortable relationships with their peers and respectful attitudes towards adults.
I hope you will find our website useful and feel encouraged to pay us a visit. We will be delighted to show you round the school and discuss what we can do for your children here at Birchfield.
