At Birchfield, we know that each child is unique and that all children learn more effectively when they feel valued, happy, safe and secure in their environment. These are our core values and we appreciate just how important these early years of education are. Our aim in Reception, is to provide the basis for all future learning, establishing positive attitudes towards school, making good relationships, having good self-esteem and the encouragement of appropriate behaviour and use of good manners. Our Reception children also enjoy weekly lessons in French, Music and PE, taught by specialist school staff.

We are incredibly fortunate here at Birchfield. Our idyllic location allows our teaching to take place both inside and outside the classroom. We also incorporate Forest School within our curriculum, which allows us to offer all our children a healthy, adventurous and challenging learning experience and stimulates and engages our young learners’ curiosity about the natural world.

At Birchfield School we offer a broad and balanced education that is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
