HOW TO APPLY FOR A PLACE AT BIRCHFIELD

    Admissions Process

Step 1  – Visit in person

To gain a real feel for our school, there is no substitute for a personal visit. We would be delighted to show you around our beautiful grounds and learning environment on an Open Morning or on a working day during term time. You will have the chance to meet pupils, teachers and the Headmistress during your visit and discuss your children and your aspirations for their education, with no obligation.

    Step 2 -Taster experience

For all year groups, excluding Reception and Year 7, we invite prospective pupils and students to join us for one or two taster days at Birchfield. This allows your child to experience life at Birchfield and gives us the opportunity to work with your child in a classroom setting. Verbal feedback will be offered as a result of taster days. At this stage, a place may be offered, subject to satisfactory school references from your child’s current school.

Step 3 – Complete a registration form and reserve a place

For all year groups, excluding Reception and Year 7, in the event of a place being offered, the next step is to complete registration form and sign our terms and conditions of joining. A reservation fee of £100 is also payable at this stage. In some circumstances there may be a waiting list for a particular year group and we will not be able to confirm your child’s place immediately. In this instance we will keep you regularly informed and the £100 fee would not be payable until a place is available.

Step 4  – Complete the registration process to secure a place

To complete the registration process a £500 commitment fee is payable which we are pleased to refund in full during your child’s final term at the school. This fee is often paid at the same time as the registration fee.

    Step 5 – Welcome pack

Once your child’s place has been confirmed, it’s all systems go! We will provide you with a Welcome Pack and full uniform list. Our uniform suppliers School Shop Direct are based in Shrewsbury and they are happy to serve you with a dedicated appointment in the shop. Now you’re all ready to take your first steps on the Birchfield journey!
