Birchfield is a non-selective school that welcomes children aspiring to both the 11+ and the 13+ Common Entrance and Scholarship exams. Whilst our main focus is to deliver the Common Entrance and differentiated Scholarship curriculum for senior schools, we also offer support for 11+ pupils wishing to move to grammar schools and have an impressive record at age 11 and 13.
At Birchfield our aim is to develop each child’s academic potential and importantly, a love of learning. We do this through our unrestricted curriculum, small class sizes and individual attention from specialist teachers in each subject. During their journey through school, children develop positive and productive relationships with their teachers and a growing understanding of their own learning styles and study preferences.
Teachers seek always to inform, and most importantly, inspire their young charges, developing curiosity and a passion for their subjects which translates into strong academic performance. Learning to accept and cope with failure is an important lesson on the academic journey and developing a positive attitude allows our children to attack new challenges and relish working outside their comfort zone.
