We are a vibrant rural preparatory and senior school in Albrighton, near Wolverhampton. Birchfield School delivers first class educational opportunities and outcomes for boys and girls from Reception upwards. With an ‘Excellent’ ISI rating and a reputation for outstanding education over its 88 year history, we are delighted to be expanding our senior school provision up to Year 11 with a comprehensive GCSE programme of study being introduced, allowing us to provide affordable education in the future for children aged 4 to 16.
Our stand out rural location doesn’t just make for an idyllic educational setting, but it also means that we serve a wide catchment area, welcoming children from Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. Our ethos is very much one of a family school; a community that incorporates both a junior and senior school. We hold many events throughout the year, and welcome all families to be part of our Birchfield family.
To give our pupils a complete education, we also have an onsite nursery, which provides care from 6 weeks of age. We work closely with our nursery so that the transition from the nursery into our preparatory school is a positive experience for both children, their parents, and their families. We also have a strong relationship with our sister school, St Dominic’s Grammar School, and their sixth form department, which enables us to offer sixth form places to our pupils, so that they can continue their education benefiting from the same ethos for which we are renowned. We believe that education shouldn’t just be about academic progress, and following a curriculum, but about teaching our pupils the skills to enable them to flourish in their lives.

We have ensured over the years that we have changed with the times. Birchfield School was a boys’ boarding school in past times and today we welcome both boys and girls as day pupils, providing them with an education for today’s world.
